Our proactive service in the community is a highly valued and historical tradition at Attwaters Jameson Hill.

At Attwaters Jameson Hill we regularly participate and organise events and fund-raising projects in the local communities of each of our offices. It is our philosophy that contributing meaningfully to those who live in our communities demonstrates one of our core values – that the legal profession has a moral responsibility to help those in need and to give back to the communities in which they operate.

Many of our colleagues hold significant roles with civic and charitable organisations, educational and cultural institutions and our staff nominate a ‘Charity of the Year’ each year which we support and work with to raise funds.

Please see our Equality and Diversity policy here.

Current examples of our community policies in action include:

Harlow Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB)

Madeline Seibert, Attwaters Jameson Hill’s Medical Negligence Partner, is a Board member and Trustee of the Harlow Citizens Advice Bureau. Many of our colleagues voluntarily sit on the Solicitors rota, providing free advice sessions to individuals with specific legal problems.

Local School Governorships

We encourage our Partners and Associates to become Governors for local schools – most are parents themselves and find their involvement to be immensely rewarding and insightful. Many of the skills learned are transferable to the workplace.

  • Joyti Henchie was previously Governor for Northgate Primary School in Bishop’s Stortford, Herts
  • Sheenagh Parsons was previously Governor for Nobel Secondary School in Stevenage, Herts
  • Sheri-Anne Mizon was previously Governor for Milwards Primary School in Harlow, Essex
  • Peter Westbrook is Governor for Leventhorpe Business and Enterprise Academy in Sawbridgeworth, Herts
Medical Negligence Team Initiatives

Attwaters Jameson Hill’s Medical Negligence team works closely with AvMA (Action Against Medical Accidents) of which our partner, Madeline Seibert, is a Panel Member. Our team members also help out with AvMA’s Patient Helpline.

Apprenticeship Scheme & Work Experience

Attwaters Jameson Hill takes part in local apprenticeship schemes and has successfully employed numerous apprentices over the past few years.

This gives young people the chance to ‘earn while they learn’ and gain essential skills that they will use to further develop their careers.

The firm has links with a number of local schools and colleges and actively participates in work experience programmes and placements throughout the year.

Supporting Local Sport & Recreation

A number of local sports clubs have benefited significantly from Attwaters Jameson Hill’s support and sponsorship, including:

  • Bishop’s Stortford Swifts under-11s soccer team
  • Harlow mini rugby team
  • Hertford Rugby Football Club
  • Harlow Rugby Club veterans
  • Old Loughtonians Hockey Club
  • Cheshunt Football Club
  • Richard Hale Football Team

Charitable work

We have a proud record of supporting local and national charities. Each year, as nominated and voted for by our colleagues, the Attwaters Jameson Hill charity of the year is the recipient of funds raised by a range of in-house and external activities.

2019 Charity of the Year

We are helping to save lives locally

We are proudly sponsoring Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, as our Charity of the Year 2019/20.

Nominated by members of our staff, it’s a cause that we feel passionately about, and are delighted to be able to further help the charity’s aims over the next 12 months.

On average, Essex and Herts Air Ambulance treats 1,000 patients every year. They rely on the support of nearly 300 fundraising volunteers to cover costs in excess of £750,000 every month, to keep both helicopters flying and to cover all charitable fees. It costs, on average, a staggering £2,200 per mission, to help those in need.

Their aim is to save lives, reduce or prevent disability, or suffering from critical illness and injury, by delivering a first-class, pre-hospital emergency medical service to the people of Essex, Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas. We are looking forward to helping such a worthwhile cause, to save lives of those in our local area.

£2,300 raised at our annual charity quiz

Last night (14th November 2019) we hosted our annual charity quiz, this year in aid of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT), our Charity of the Year.

Having been oversubscribed in previous years, we chose to host the quiz in a new, bigger venue – Broxbourne’s Paradise Wildlife Park, and were delighted to welcome 161 guests to participate.

As always, we were delighted to have the opportunity to raise funds for such a worthy cause, making a difference to the lives of those across two counties at the heart of our firm. We are thrilled to announce that we raised a total of £2,300 last night from our quiz and raffle, thanks to the huge generosity of our guests, meaning we have covered the £2,200 cost of a flight mission for EHAAT.

Partner and Head of Family Law, Joyti Henchie, said, “We would like to thank everyone who supported our charity quiz evening, and the donations made towards Essex & Herts Air Ambulance. To have raised enough money to pay for a flight mission is a real achievement and we are so pleased to be able to help the charity in this way.”
